New Community in Madison Valley!

Downtown Cornerstone is a community of communities scattered throughout the city, declaring and displaying the gospel of Jesus Christ in relationship to each other and the city. These are communities of diverse, imperfect people that are committed to living out the implications of the gospel in every sphere of life. These are communities of radical grace, sacrificial service, and joy. These are communities that eat together, pray together, laugh together, and study the Bible together – in essence, share life. These are communities that build up the church by encouraging people to faith in Jesus Christ and build up the city through deeds of justice and mercy. These are communities where you can be who God created you to be, yourself. It’s our hope and prayer that everyone who calls Downtown Cornerstone home will find a community like this.

Last month, we launched a new community in Madison Valley! Stephen Pak will be leading the new community, so we asked him to answer a few questions about the people, vision, and prayer requests for Madison Valley.

Q. What is your vision for community?

We are passionate about community because it is where the Gospel is lived out. Real life happens in eating together, sharing struggles, laughing, crying, and praying together, encouraging one another, giving of our time and ourselves for the sake of others. Our hope is that we and the others in our community will become increasingly overwhelmed by the riches of the Gospel – that we are so deeply depraved and yet so unconditionally loved – and that we can’t help but be transformed to be more like Christ as grow in our knowledge of and love for the Lord.

Q. Who will be involved in this new community?

We know there are a lot of young families in DCC that are not in community, because the logistics of weekday evenings can be challenging. By meeting on Sunday evening, we hope to meet that need and provide a place for folks to share life together even if it’s a bit chaotic with lots of kids running around. We plan to embrace the havoc!

Q. Any specific ways we can be praying?

Pray that God will be glorified and His name will be made great through this community. Pray that our community’s love and commitment to the Lord will deepen and that we will be disciples on mission for God’s kingdom. Pray for deep relationships to form and unity in our community.  Pray for the strengthening and protection of our marriages and families. Finally, pray the Lord will raise up more leaders so we can replicate and more folks can find community homes!
