New year essentials are sermons that address subjects and important themes we must repeatedly return to for the glory of God and the transformation of our inner and outer lives. These are not, of course, the same sermons. Rather, they are different sermons, taking different angles, on issues we need to come back to again and again.
In our 2020 series, we considered what it means to read the Bible not only to see but to savor, the new humanity that God is forging in Christ and the church’s role in displaying it, the intimate and creative work of God in knitting human life together in the womb, and God’s glory being the fuel for His mission of making disciples of all nations.
1/12/20 Reading To Savor, Not Only See, 1 Peter 1:23-2:2
1/19/20 God’s New Humanity, Ephesians 2:11-22
1/26/20 Knit Together By God, Psalm 139:13-16
2/02/20 God’s Glory as Fuel for God’s Mission, Isaiah 40:12-26
