A Life Anchored in God

Media, Sermons, The Living Word 2019 | by Pastor David Parker

The Living Word 2019

Today is the fifth and final sermon in a series we are calling The Living Word, based on Hebrews 4:12, in which God’s Word is described as ”living and active.” His Word is alive and changes lives. To demonstrate this, we asked five pastors, and leaders, to share a passage the Lord has been using in their lives to convict, comfort and/or challenge them. Today, Pastor David dives into Psalm 112 and unpacks what it means to have a life that is satisfied and anchored in all that God is for us in Jesus Christ.

Called, Loved, and Kept by God

Jude, Media, Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

Jude
Today we embark on a new 5-week sermon series through the letter of Jude. God is writing this letter, through Jude, to warn against the false teaching that had crept into the church and remind believers to stand firm in the faith; stand firm in the Gospel and the authority of Jesus Christ. And as we’ll see today in verses 1 & 2, a proper understanding of our identity in Christ, always leads to a right worship of God, and experiencing the infinite mercy, love, and peace of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel to the Nations

Media, Other Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

Other Sermons

What is the mission of the church? What does it mean to go and make disciples? How do we do that and how does God want to use us in those endeavors? As we look at Luke 24:44-49 and answer those questions — my prayer is that we will see from Scripture, that we exist to declare and display the glory of God, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by living sent lives to those across the street and around the world, for the establishing and building up of His local church among the nations.

A Countercultural Community

, 1 Peter, Media, Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

1 Peter

Today we continue our series through 1 Peter. Peter’s letter is theologically weighty, yet simultaneously down-to-earth, and is filled fresh encouragements to wholehearted faithfulness while living in exile. Today, in 1 Peter 3:8-17, we are going to look at three ways that the Gospel shapes us as countercultural community, even in the midst of evil and unjust suffering.

Unless the Lord Builds the House

Media, Psalms: Songs of Ascent, Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

Psalms: Songs of Ascent

Today we cross the half-way point for our short four part series on the Psalms of Ascent with Psalm 127. This Psalm is immensely practical for us today, because it gets to the heart of the two areas of life that often demand the most attention; our work and our family. In the text today, we’ll look at how the sovereign hand of the Lord is involved in all of our endeavors, and then we’ll examine how that affects the way we think about our labors, our sleep, our families and ultimately the Gospel.

God’s Love Made Known

1 John, Media, Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

1 John

The whole book of First John was written so that we would know that we have fellowship with God; that we would know that we are genuine children of the King. Today in chapter 4, John brings back several themes that we’ve been exploring throughout this book, namely, that we understand the one true God and His love for us that was revealed in Jesus Christ. Without a proper understanding of God’s love, we won’t know how to receive His love, love Him in return, and most importantly, love others.

Assurance For Our Hearts

1 John, Media, Sermons | by Pastor David Parker

1 John

In many respects the whole book of 1 John is one big test, answering the question: How can we have assurance that we are truly His children and He is truly our treasure? John continues to unpack these themes in chapters 3 and 4, giving us the test of whether or not we are children of Him by the way we understand His love for us, and in turn our love for others. Today we’re gong to look at how we gain assurance for our hearts and confidence before Him through the Gospel and genuine brotherly love.
