Raising Image Bearers: Practices

, Media, On Being Human, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

On Being Human

Today, we look at what it means to be human as we raise image bearers and some practical methods for doing so. Ephesians 4:32; Ephesians 5:2, 25; 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9; and Romans 15:7 pertain to concepts of godly parenting: to raise children who fear God and cultivate hearts that trust and love their King. Parenting is an overflow of the heart, and God must be our foundation, example, and goal as our children are formed through our influence on their life.

In Christ: Our Living Union

Disciple: Living For Jesus, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Disciple: Living For Jesus

The first sermon of the series, we begin with what it means to be “in Christ” – also known as our union with Christ. This union is the beginning, middle, and end of all our discipleship. To be in Christ is an invitation to evaluate our identity in a new way. Our identity in Christ is the heart of what it means to be Christian. In Christ we are a new creation, and experience a dynamic, relational oneness with Christ. As we focus on four different aspects of this union, we see that we are represented by Jesus, that He becomes the foundation of our life, that we are loved with the same love the Father has for the Son, and that we now live before the face of God. Our greatest treasure is being in Christ.

Creation, Marriage, and Women

, Media, Proverbs: Living Wisdom, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Proverbs: Living Wisdom
The book of Proverbs shows us that God cares about the nitty-gritty details of our every day lives. The one, true, living God is not detached, aloof, and disinterested. He loves us and wants life for us, not death. He wants us to flourish – in this life and the next – not merely exist. Though nearly 3,000 years old, this ancient book remains incredibly relevant today – even to the modern debate on marriage, gender and roles. This week we look at creation, marriage and women.

Women and Marriage

, Ephesians, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Ephesians

In Ephesians 5:22-33, we have the longest statement on the relationship between husbands and wives in the New Testament. Last week we looked at God’s call to husbands to sacrificially love, protect and provide for their wives. This week, we examined the controversial and often misunderstood topic of “submission.” Wives are called by God to submit by freely, gladly, and fully respecting her husband’s leadership – just like the Church does Christ.

Ephesians

In Ephesians 5:22-33, we have he longest statement on the relationship between husbands and wives in the New Testament. This week, we examine God’s call to every husband to function as the “head” of his wife and family. That “headship” is expressed as the husband takes primary responsibility for sacrificially loving, protecting and providing for his wife – just like Jesus does the church.
