Godly Husbands

, 1 Peter, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

1 Peter

Today we continue our series through 1 Peter. Peter’s letter is theologically weighty, yet simultaneously down-to-earth, and is filled fresh encouragements to wholehearted faithfulness while living in exile. Today, in 1 Peter 3:7, Peter speaks to the husbands.

Godly Wives

, 1 Peter, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

1 Peter

1 Peter is an ancient letter written by the Apostle Peter, the beloved disciple of Jesus, between A.D. 62-63 from Rome, to churches spread throughout Asia Minor (modern day Turkey). His aim was to encourage them—and us—to stand firm (1 Pet. 5:12) amidst trials, persecution, and heartache in a world that is not our true home. We’ve considered politics (2:13-17), unjust suffering (2:18-25), singleness (3:1-7) and, today, godly wives (3:1-6).

Women as Wives

, , Media, On Being Human, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

On Being Human

God’s purpose throughout time is to bring unity to all things, and marriage exists to point to the deeper reality of Christ and the church. Two weeks ago, we looked at what our humanity means in regards marriage and how Christ calls us to live it out. Last week, we looked at what it means men as husbands. This week, we will read Ephesians 5:22-33 and discuss what is means to be women and how we are to respond to our husbands in marriage.

Marriage and the Mystery of Christ

, Media, On Being Human, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

On Being Human

Today we look at what it means to be human in marriage. Marriage is a specific part of God's design for life, not merely a matter of personal preference or political constructs. God's purpose throughout time is to bring unity to all things, and marriage exists to point to the deeper reality of Christ and the church. In marriage we display the glory of Jesus who rescued, redeemed, and loves His bride the church.

Cultivating Your Marriage

, Media, Proverbs: Living Wisdom, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Proverbs: Living Wisdom
We’re just over half way through our study of the ancient, yet incredibly relevant, book of Proverbs. The primary theme of Proverbs is wisdom, but the wisdom of Proverbs (and the Bible) has nothing to do with IQ or life experience, though those are good and helpful. Rather, this wisdom finds it source in letting the living God be the living God to you in every corner of your life (cf 1:7). Today we get to what Proverbs says about cultivating your marriage.

Creation, Marriage, and Women

, Media, Proverbs: Living Wisdom, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Proverbs: Living Wisdom
The book of Proverbs shows us that God cares about the nitty-gritty details of our every day lives. The one, true, living God is not detached, aloof, and disinterested. He loves us and wants life for us, not death. He wants us to flourish – in this life and the next – not merely exist. Though nearly 3,000 years old, this ancient book remains incredibly relevant today – even to the modern debate on marriage, gender and roles. This week we look at creation, marriage and women.

Covenant, Marriage and Men

, Media, Proverbs: Living Wisdom, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Proverbs: Living Wisdom
Last 40 years marriage has seen a dramatic, steady decline in our country and culture. It is clear that there are few things more broken in our day than manhood and womanhood, particularly in relation to marriage and the price of this brokenness is impossible to quantify. We need living wisdom today for our marriages and our men.

“Should I date a non-Christian?”

, , Uncategorized | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Our church is predominantly single, which makes sense given that singles are the primary demographic in our context. Given the lack of godly, Jesus-loving, potential spouses, a common issue among Christian singles is, “Should I just date a non-Christian?”

Women and Marriage

, , Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

In Ephesians 5:22-33, we have the longest statement on the relationship between husbands and wives in the New Testament. Last week we looked at God’s call to husbands to sacrificially love, protect and provide for their wives. This week, we examined the controversial and often misunderstood topic of “submission.” Wives are called by God to submit by freely, gladly, and fully respecting her husband’s leadership – just like the Church does Christ.
