How Mercy Transforms Our Money

, Media, Romans, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Romans

We continue our study of the most influential, life-changing, worldview-shaping letter ever written: Romans. It is a timeless, divinely-inspired masterpiece on the joy-filled-life-as-it-should-be freedom found in Jesus alone. For eleven chapters, Paul unfolded the heights and depths of the gospel of Jesus. Then, in 12-16, he turns and says, “Let me show you how important this is for your every day living.” Now, in 12:9-21, we consider the culture which the gospel creates.

Money

, Ecclesiastes, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Ecclesiastes

This morning we are continuing our series through the book of Ecclesiastes. It’s a timeless, and timely book. In it, the Preacher-King recounts a lifelong search for meaning, purpose, and satisfaction “under the sun.” To do so, he exhausts every nook and cranny of the created order and human potential. Yet, again and again, he discovers “all is vanity.” Today, in Ecc. 5:8-6:12, the Preacher turns his attention to the appeal, and vanity, of money.

The Parable of the Talents

, Media, Parables of Jesus: Windows into Reality, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Parables of Jesus: Windows into Reality

This morning we are entering our second week in a new series, The Parables of Jesus: Windows into Reality, in which we are exploring ten of Jesus’ most famous parables. Today, we reach the Parable of the Talents, found in Matthew 25:14-30. This parable is used to highlight the value of stewardship—which is good and right—but there’s much more to it than that. This parable challenges the very foundations of how we see reality and what we do with our lives.

A Warning to the Rich

, James, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

James

We return to our study of James and begin the last chapter, James 5:1-6. James speaks on the topic of money and its potential for being a serious, soul-damaging snare to our soul. This is a deeply personal, yet deeply practical word for us. James' pastoral teaching helps us be honest with ourselves, for our own good, by looking at different areas of our life and revealing what those areas say about the condition of our hearts.

, Media, Proverbs: Living Wisdom, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Proverbs: Living Wisdom
The mega-theme of Proverbs is wisdom. This book, and the Bible, define wisdom as the skill of living, particularly in the areas of life where the normal rules of life don’t apply. This wisdom isn’t found where we’d normally think to look. This wisdom finds its source in letting God be God to you in every corner of your life. So far we’ve looked at what happens when you let God be God to you when it comes to our words, our singleness, our marriages, our parenting, our pride, our sexuality and more. Today we’re going to look at what happens when we let God be God to us in the area of money.

Grace, Generosity and Fear

, Acts, Media, Sermons | by Pastor Adam Sinnett

Acts
In Acts 4:32-5:11 we see that God’s great grace leads us to great generosity and great fear. When the undeserved goodness of God moves in our direction in Christ, we are left changed. What is blocking the flow of God’s grace in your life?
